Cinema Development Company has been in the large format film industry since 1988. Cinema Development Company has installed ten large format systems at locations around the United States and is now working on its first international large format system.
In 1988, Cinema Development Company began business as NJ Engineering. It operated under the umbrella of World Odyssey from 1988 to 1993.
In 1990 Goto Optical Manufacturing Company, based in Japan, signed an exclusive distribution agreement with NJ Engineering and World Odyssey. The result of this agreement was that NJ Engineering built and installed four 15/70 rolling loop projectors at four different locations in Japan. Two additional 15/70 rolling loop projectors were built by NJ Engineering and installed by Goto Optical, one in India, and one in Korea.
Starting in 1993, the company was known as Cinema Technology, Inc (CTI) and it had an exclusive manufacturing and sales relationship with Iwerks Entertainment. This lasted through 1999.
In 1999, the company ended its formal relationship with Iwerks and became Cinema Development Company. Neil Johnson, the President has built these three companies starting from equipment and technology development into a full service theater development company.
Cinema Development Company's primary focus is on selling, not leasing, large format systems to customers. Cinema Development Company has the proven ability to deliver a complete package of theater development, from concept all the way to a completed, functioning system.
